My grandmother, Riley Stephen, had taught my mother how to sew. And she, then taught me how to sew. My two, my mom taught me and my machine all joined together with lots of love.
Once she was gone the machine sat for 2 years, the dust settling thick then eventually my mom found a shoebox full of scraps from all of our lives - each square identified notated, and dated with each recipient of such a treasure.
A story written in thread, of work handcrafted; i wasn’t gonna let that stop. I called Chelsea Stephen, we share a name and i carry her ideology, an i believe clothing should be crafted in a place of care, not just assembly. Chelsea Stephen is a little company with a family behind it, all the clothing made here is done as my grandmother would’ve have, strong, thoughtful, ready.
